How do I stop cracks in large rooms?

You need to put an expansion joint to the area in question. This can be a fairly inexpensive solution but best left to the experts of plastering. Depending also on circumstance another way is to backblock the joints. This is where a 300mm by 400mm piece of plasterboard has backblocking cement applied and is stuck down from above the joint or crack. Can you fix flaky paint on ceilings?

In most cases yes by scraping back and plastering. It is then advisable to bond-crete the affected area before reapplying paint. The bondcrete works as a barrier to stop the existing paint from flaking any further.

How do I fix a hole in the wall?

Cut a back block which is a piece of plasterboard a little bigger than the hole with a nail pulled through it. Insert the block through the hole pull the block back against the hole using some plaster mix to make it adhere.

After it is dry you can push thescrew or nail back through the block and fill up the hole scraping back between coats. The final coat is the fine finish that can be sanded using sand paper or a block ready for paint.
